Of

Hajj

Brothers and Sisters!

Assalam o Alleyykum

[Peace be Upon You]

Allah is Great, Magnificent, Aleem and Merciful. Mankind is creation of Allah and therefore Allah loves them and wants them to be successful in this world and life hereafter.

Brothers and Sisters! Hajj is one of the pillars of Islam to get mankind closer to Allah. Therefore there is Hikmahs in every essential of Hajj in our day to day life.

Brothers and Sisters! Let us try to see what are the Hikmahs (prudence) in every essential of Hajj?

Preparation for Hajj

Brothers and Sisters! Allah is the Highest Authority. So when one makes preparation upon the realization that he is going before the Highest Authority he confesses his humility and plans how he is going to make his representations where he will be forgiven and his Dua’as will be accepted.

Brothers and Sisters! In our everyday life we have to go before our seniors e.g. parents , teachers, employers and officers etc.etc. The object of the visit is to make representations where he can get closer to them and they should listen to him and help to fulfill his needs, wishes and desires.

Brothers and Sisters! The preparation to go for Hajj teaches everyone the etiquettes as to how to approach seniors and make representations.

First Sight at Bait Ullah

Brothers and Sisters! Narrations are that Dua’as made soon after the first sight of Bait Ullah are accepted by Allah with His (SWT) Grace.

Brothers and Sisters! Dua’a at first sight at Bait Ullah teaches us the humility in making Dua’a, to the point, which will help in our day to day life as every moment of life we are in need of something and consciously or unconsciously we are making Dua’a that we are successful in our mission.

Taw’aaf

Brothers and Sisters! When Muslims do Taw’aaf around Bait Ullah they in fact are doing Taw’aaf around Allah.

How?

Brothers and Sisters! Above the seven heavens there is Bait al Ma’moor. Upon Bait al Ma’moor there is Arsh of Allah.

Brothers and Sisters! Bait Ullah is right under Bait ul Ma’moor. This is how Muslims are doing Taw’aaf around Allah and not the house made of stones .

Brothers and Sisters! Let us try to understand this aspect from a different angle.

Brothers and Sisters! If Muslims cannot do Taw’aaf on the ground floor around Bait Ullah i.e. the room made of stone, then they can go at the top floor of the Masjid Al – Haram and then complete seven rounds. In this way one is not near Bait Ullah but he is moving around Bait Ullah well above the ground floor.

Brothers and Sisters! Ulema have derived that if Muslims are sitting in a plane or helicopter and the plane or helicopters encircle around Bait Ullah in the air then Taw’aaf is accomplished although the Muslims were sitting in the plane or helicopter.

Brothers and Sisters! So the object of Taw’aaf is to be closer to Allah and not to the Bait Ullah made of stones.

Brothers and Sisters! In our day to day life Taw’aaf teaches us that to get closer to the authorities, parents and teachers etc.etc. one should give them due respect in their absence likewise while doing Taw’aaf one gives due respect to Allah whom a human eye cannot see.

Two Rakat Nafal Salat

Brothers and Sisters! Maqam e Ibrahim is stone upon which there are signs of footsteps of Hazrat Ibrahim (PBUH). This stone had the attribute that Hazrat Ibrahim were standing on it and it kept on rising so that Hazrat Ibrahim can lay the stones where his hands could not reach should He (PBUH) be standing in the ground.

Brothers and Sisters! To offer two Rakat Salat after Taw’aaf at Maqam e Ibrahim reminds one the hard work He (PBUH) did for the mankind to come until the Day of Resurrection and this two Rakat Nafal Salat is Dua’a for Him (PBUH) before Allah to increase His (PBUH) degrees in Paradise.

Brothers and Sisters! In our day to day life we are helped by so many people. The two Rakat Salat at Maqam e Ibrahim teaches us to be grateful to the people who helped and make Dua’a for them to be successful in this world and life hereafter.

Drinking Abe Zam Zam

Brothers and Sisters! The history of emergence of the fountain of Zam Zam is as below:

  • Upon the behest of Allah Hazrat Ibrahim (PBUH) left His PBUH) wife Hazrat Hajira (RTU) and his newly born son Hazrat Isma’iel (PBUH) near the place where Bait Ullah is built.

  • When the food and water finished and Hazrat Isma’iel was thirsty Hazrat Hajira ran between hills Safa and Mar’wa seven times in the hope to find something.

  • While she was in hill Mar’wa she saw something creeping where Hazrat Isma’iel (PBUH) were lying.

  • Hazrat Hajira (RTU) rushed back thinking that this creeping thing will harm He (RTU) son.

  • When she came to the place it was water emerging from the land where Hazrat Isma’iel (PBUH) was rubbing His (PBUH) heels.

  • Hazrat Hajira (RTU) shouted: Zam Zam. Brothers and Sisters!
Zam Zam means to stop. This is how the water is named Zam Zam.

Brothers and Sisters! Since that time the water is flowing from this fountain and Insha’allah! It will keep flowing until the Day of Resurrection.

Brothers and Sisters! A Japanese scientist Dr Masaru Emoto has made analysis of Abe Zam Zam. He has discovered that there is no water in the world like Abe Zam Zam. Dr Emoto has written a book:

The Hidden Messages in Water

which is worth reading. Or you can search Dr Masaru Emoto on Google and look at the quality of water.

Brothers and Sisters! Who can deny that how important water is in our day to day life: drinking, washing, irrigation of fields to grow food sailing. Moreover, there is element of water in every creation.

Sae between Safa and Mar’wa

Brothers and Sisters! Under the essential Drinking Abe Zam Zam it is mentioned that Hazrat Hajira (RTU) ran between Safa and Mar’wa in search of something to eat and drink.

Brothers and Sisters! The Sae means ‘to make effort’.

Brothers and Sisters! Visualise the circumstances at the time when there was nothing: no tree, no fountain, and no people. Hazrat Hajira (RTU) was alone with Her (RTU) son.

Brothers and Sisters! She could see that there is nothing to look for and stayed in her tent. But in spite of the fact there was nothing to look for; she went up to hill Safa and keep going towards hill Mar’wa in the hope of finding something.

Brothers and Sisters! First time She (RTU) did not find anything e.g. a group of travelers. So she should have come back. But she ran between Safa and Mar’wa seven times. She kept looking toward the tent that Her (RTU) son is alright. When She (RTU) saw something creeping near the tent She (RTU) rushed back and found that fountain of water has emerged where Her (RTU) son was rubbing his heels.

Brothers and Sisters! Allah liked Her (RTU) effort to look for the Bounties of Allah where He (SWT) made Sae among the Essentials of Hajj. It is revealed in the

Qur’an.

Surah Al Baqrah Verse no. 159

Brothers and Sisters! The lesson in the Sae of Safa and Mar’wa is for the mankind that they should keep trying to look for the Bounties of Allah even though there are no resources in sight. Brothers and Sisters!
Further lesson in Sae is that if one does not find first time then keep trying i.e. try try again.

Shaving Head

Brothers and Sisters! When a Muslim is in Ahram then he is not allowed to take bath or shower until Hajj is completed.

Brothers and Sisters! As the hair are not washed regularly and he was spending time in open field so all the dust was accumulating within his hair which can become cause of emergence of lice. So when the head is shaved and thereafter taken bath or shower it gets cleaned and there is no danger of any disease.

Brothers and Sisters! The lesson in shaving the head for the mankind is that now and then they should shave their heads to keep healthy.

Come Out of Ahram

Brothers and Sisters! After all the essentials of Hajj are performed then the Muslim comes out of Ahram. This means that any actions which were disallowed while he was in Ahram are to be dispenses with e.g. while he was in Ahram he could not mate with his wife. So when he is out of Ahram he can mate with his wife. When he is out of Ahram he can have shower, change clothes, and look for the Bounties of Allah i.e. live a normal life. In other words a mission was accomplished.

Brothers and Sisters! The lesson coming out of Ahram is that in one’s day to day life he has a mission to accomplish. When he is on a mission he dispenses with many actions. So when the mission is accomplished, as he is tired and clothes get dirty, so he should have shower, change clothes and relax and enjoy with his family.

Dua’a at Multazim

Brothers and Sisters! As per narrations when Khatim ul Anbiyya (SAW) performed Hajj He (SAW) used to cling to Multazim and make Dua’a to Allah with absolute humility.

Brothers and Sisters! The lesson for mankind is that whenever one, makes Dua’a to Allah he should be humble and there should be humility in his representations along with sincerity of heart and mind.

Other Essentials of Hajj

Brothers and Sisters! The other essentials consist of:

  • Makkah to Mina

  • Mina to Arafat

  • Arafat to Muzdalifa

  • Muzdalifa to Mina

Brothers and Sisters! When Muslims are travelling back and forth from Makkah to Mina, Arafat, Muzdalifa and Mina they are not required to anything special. All this time is expended in:

  • Dhikr (remembrance) of Allah

  • Repenting and begging forgiveness from Allah

  • Making Dua’as to Allah

Brothers and Sisters! The lesson in coming back and forth from Makkah to Mina is that in normal sphere of life one is going back and forth in search of Bounties of Allah so he should keep doing Dhikr of Allah, repenting and begging forgiveness of Allah and also making Dua’as to Allah.

Sacrifice

Brothers and Sisters! Not only Muslims who have performed Hajj but Muslims all over the world are under obligation to sacrifice lamb or cow or camel in the Path of Allah.

Brothers and Sisters! Under the light of Qur’an and Hadith the meat of the lamb should be distributed in three portions: one for poor people, one for relatives and one for oneself.

Brothers and Sisters! The lesson in sacrifice of an animal is that in our day to day life one should look after the people in need of Bounties of Allah where for some reasons they are short of.

CONCLUSION

Brothers and Sisters! Allah is Great. In every Ibadaah (worship) there are Hikmahs (prudence) of Allah where there are guidelines to expend day to day life. For example: Salat five times a day. While performing Salat one, stands, bends, prostrates and sits. If you make an analysis that in standing, bending, prostrating and sitting every joint of the body moves. So the lesson in performance of Salat is that one should keep exercising so the calories of food are burnt and become part of blood which will lead to a healthy life.

Brothers and Sisters! Although every Muslim may not be able to go for Hajj but he can learn a lesson from the essentials of Hajj for his day to day life.

VISIT TO MADINA

Brothers and Sisters! Madina is city where Khatim ul Anbiyya (SAW) migrated from Makkah and although the base of revival of Deen e Islam was made in Makkah but its promotion was spread from Madina to all over the world.

Brothers and Sisters! For the revival of Islam the first thing which was done was building of a Masjid. Adjacent to Masjid were the Hujras (houses) of Prophet Mohammed (SAW) and His (SAW) wives.

Brothers and Sisters! The Hujra where He (SAW) passed away is His (SAW) resting place.

Brothers and Sisters! Although it is not Essential of Hajj but Muslims are obliged to visit Madina and go to Rodha e Rasoolto pay his respect and gratitude.

Brothers and Sisters! Please read link: No 2 Visit to Madina to learn about the imperativeness of visit to Madina.

ETIQUETTES OF HOW TO HAVE SINS FORGIVEN

Brothers and Sisters! It was mentioned at the outset that a Muslim when he performs Hajj then all his sins are forgiven and he becomes like a new born baby.

Brothers and Sisters! How one can have his sins forgiven there are certain etiquettes to be observed. Please read option: Hajj/Umrah on website:
