[Prayer]

Brothers and Sisters!

Assalam o Alleyykum

[Peace be Upon You]

Allah is Creator and mankind is creation. So there has to be a mean where they can keep in touch with each other and keep getting closer to each other.

Brothers and Sisters! Let us look at the chronology why mankind has to be closer to Allah.

Brothers and Sisters! To understand and appreciate the concept of getting closer to Allah we have to take worldly example.

  • An employer interviews a candidate. The employer advises the candidate about the nature of his assignment and tells him how he has to perform his services and during the day he has to report to him the progress made in the assignment .

  • He also advises that if he renders his services as per his guidance then this will keep them closer to each other and he will be rewarded where he can keep his body and soul together and after the retirement he will be looked after in every respect.

  • He further advises him that should anyone come to him and lures him not to follow my guidance then he should revert to him to seek guidance how to get rid of him.

Brothers and Sisters! Allah created our forefather Hazrat Adam (PBUH) and took out all the offspring from His (PBUH) loin. Allah advised them that you will be sent in the world to get closer to Me (SWT). If you will keep getting closer to Me (SWT) you will enjoy respect and serenity in your heart and mind and if you are successful in the test then you will live in Paradise forever.

Brothers and Sisters! As mankind has been sent in this world for a test so there has to be some forces who would try to stop him by getting closer to Allah. In other word those forces will digress him from the Right Path which is leading to Paradise.

Brothers and Sisters! The forces which will digress mankind from Right Path are Naffas (Psyche) and Shaitan (Satan).

Brothers and Sisters! Allah inflicted Naffas (Psyche) in Fitrat (disposition) of mankind which will inspire him not to follow Guidance of Allah. When the wish will emerge in the Naffas to oppose the Guidance of Allah then Shaitan (Satan) will come and lure him to oppose Guidance of Allah.

Brothers and Sisters! Question arises why Shaitan (Satan) will lure mankind to oppose Guidance of Allah?

Brothers and Sisters! When Allah created Hazrat Adam (PBUH) the other creations asked what is His (PBUH) status in terms of superiority?

Brothers and Sisters!

  • To determine the status Allah asked them to prepare for exam. The syllabus was the knowledge of the universe .

  • When the exam was taken the other creations i.e. Angels, Shaitan (Satan) etc. did not secure enough marks to pass the exam. Hazrat Adam secured 100 per cent marks and He (PBUH) was declared Ashraf ul Makhlukat (The Most Superior).

    • When it was determined that Hazrat Adam (PBUH) is Ashraf ul Makhlukat Allah Commanded Angles and Shaitan (Satan) to prostrate Hazrat Adam (PBUH). In other words to accept His (PBUH) superiority.
  • Angels prostrated but Shaitan (Satan) did not prostrate. When he was asked why he did not prostrate he replied that he is superior than Hazrat Adam (PBUH) as He (PBUH) is made of clay and I am made of fire.

  • Allah Commanded Shaitan (Satan) to get out of Paradise and he will be thrown in the Hell Fire.

  • Shaitan (Satan) sought respite from Allah so that he can also lure mankind to be disobedient to Allah where they will accompany him in the Hell Fire .

  • Allah gave him respite.

Brothers and Sisters! This is how Shaitan (Satan) got respite to lure human mind to oppose the Guidance of Allah.

WAY OF LIFE

Brothers and Sisters! Allah sent mankind in the world to get closer to Him (SWT). Therefore Allah was under obligation to devise a Way of Life which could be followed in the world which can give peace of mind and heart and to keep getting closer to Allah.

Brothers and Sisters! Allah gave Hazrat Adam (PBUH) Deen e Islam i.e. Way to Peace.

Brothers and Sisters! Qur’an is Word of Allah. Qur’an is Book of ILM (Knowledge). In other words Qur’an is Book of Guidance.

Brothers and Sisters! But it is not possible for everyone to read Qur’an and ascertain how to follow the guidance as there are innumerable spheres of life.

Brothers and Sisters! Allah solved this problem. Allah chose one person among the mankind and revealed the meaning of guidance through Angel Gibra’iel where he could teach the meaning of the Qur’an to the people. The person chosen is named as Nabi (Prophet) of Allah.

Brothers and Sisters! When a person is following the Guidance of Allah he is in state of As Salat i.e. getting closer to Allah because he is following His (SWT) Guidance.

CONCLUSION

Brothers and Sisters! The conclusion boils down to is, that mankind has been created to get closer to Allah and the mean to get closer is As Salat. In other words mankind has been created to perform As Salat.

Brothers and Sisters! Allah has revealed this aspect in the beginning of the Qur’an:

Translation Surah Al Baqrah Ayat no 2 – 3

بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم

This is the Book (the Qur’an), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqun [the pious and righteous persons who fear Allah much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which Allah has forbidden) and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which Allah has ordained)]

Who believe in Ghaib (unseen) and perform As – Salat (Iqamat – as – Salat), and spend out of what We have provided for them.

Brothers and Sisters! The context and substance of the Verse no. 2 is that the people who want to get closer to Allah i.e. Al Muttaqun then they should follow the Qur’an as it is comprehensive Book in every respect.

Brothers and Sisters! The context and substance of the second Verse is that to get closer to Allah be in the state of As Salat.

Brothers and Sisters! There are two aspects of As Salat:

  • Iqamat as Salat
  • Performance of Salat

Brothers and Sisters! Please read about these aspects under links:

  • No 1 Iqamat as Salat

  • No 2 Performance of Salat

May Allah be with You.

Wass’a’lam

[May Allah Bless You]
