Wadu

[Ablution]

Brothers and Sisters!

Assalam o Alleyykum

[Peace be Upon You]

As Salat’ is ‘Presence’ before Allah (SWT). Therefore to be present before ‘Pure Entity’, the ‘Mankind’ has to be in a ‘clean’ and ‘pure’ form.

Brothers and Sisters! To fulfill this condition: ‘clean and pure’, Allah (SWT) has revealed in the Qur’an that the ‘Mankind’ must do Wadu (Ablution) prior to the performance of ‘As Salat’.

Brothers and Sisters! While doing ‘Wadu’, the Muslim:

  • Washes Hands: so that the dirt and filth, is washed out and they become pure and clean.

  • gargles and rinses ‘mouth’ so that;
  • if there are some particle of food left in the mouth, those are washed out
  • if the ‘tongue’ had indulged in some unsuitable conversation, it gets clean and pure water is poured into the ‘nose’, so that, while breathing, if some particles are stuck with the hair, those are washed out and the ‘nose’ is fully cleaned from inside.
  • the ‘face’ is washed, and, also, water is poured inside the ‘beard’ so that the pollution of the atmosphere is washed away. By washing the face one becomes fresh and comfortable, and psychologically, he feels light and in his best form, whereby he enjoys the Dhikr of     Allah (SWT), and has ‘serenity of mind’.
  • Washes ‘forearms’, so that they are clean from the dirt and pollution
  • Anoints the ‘head’, so that, the ‘head’ is clean and pure, as it has to prostrate before Allah (SWT).
  • anoints the ‘ears’, as he will listen the Praiseworthiness of Allah (SWT) and the recitation of the ‘Word of Allah’ the Quran     through his ‘ears’.
  • Washes ‘feet’, as they become dirty and filthy while in search of the Bounties of Allah (SWT), to make them clean and pure, as he has to stand on them before the presence of Allah (SWT).
  • While doing ‘Wadu’ he keeps on reciting ‘Kalma e Shahadat’. This is very useful, psychologically, because he is continuously reminding himself that he believes in the Entity of Allah (SWT) and Hazrat Mohammad (SAW) being His ‘last’ Prophet. Moreover, the body keeps becoming purer and purer and, also has some spiritual effects over the personality and character of the Muslim.

Prudence of Wadu

Brothers and Sisters! Purity and Cleanliness

  • The ‘body parts’ which are washed while doing ‘Wadu’, are the ones which are exposed to outside natural forces, whereby they have the polluted effects of the atmosphere.

  • Within 24 hours, the body keeps getting washed and cleaned     five times a day, whereby the Muslim remains nice and healthy, and consciously and unconsciously, the ‘pure waves’ keep encircling within his mind and heart.

IMPERATIVENESS OF WADU

Brothers and Sisters! Imperativeness of Wadu can be judged by the following two Ahadith:

Hadith No 1

Brothers and Sisters! Nearest meaning of the Hadith is:

When a Muslim does ‘Wadu’, he is encircled by an invisible shield which protects him from evil forces.

Hadith No 2

Brothers and Sisters! Nearest meaning of Hadith is:

  • Once a Sahabi (RTU) helped Prophet (SAW) to make Wadu.

  • After Wadu Prophet (SAW) asked the Sahabi (RTU) to the effect:

O Sahabi! Ask for anything what you want.

  • The Sahabi replied:

Ya Rasool Allah! I would like to be beside You in the life hereafter.

  • The Prophet (SAW) asked again to the effect:

O Sahabi! What more do you want?

  • The Sahabi replied again to the effect:

Ya Rasool Allah! I would like to be beside You in the life hereafter.

  • The Prophet (SAW) said to the effect:

Help me with your Sajdahs [perform Salat and Iqamat as Salat]

Brothers and Sisters! The scholars have elaborated this Hadith that Wadu is such an important Essential of Salat that Khatim ul Anbiyya (SAW) asked twice Sahabi to ask for anything in return for helping Him (SAW) to make Wadu i.e. so that He (SAW) can make Dua’a to Allah for him.

Brothers and Sisters! It is understandable that Wadu is an important Essential of Salat.

How?

Brothers and Sisters! Salat is ‘Key’ for every Success. Without Wadu Salat cannot be performed. So Wadu is ‘Key’ of Salat.

CONCLUSION

Brothers and Sisters! The conclusion boils down to is that if one remains in Wadu most of the time then he can attract the Blessings of Allah and while making Wadu he should keep making Dua’a to Allah for his success in this world and life hereafter.

May Allah be with You

Wass’a’lam

[May Allah Bless You]
